Hi all, I have a seagate drive with a burned out 8 leg chip on the pcb. The drives specs are: p/n 9BJ148-308 Firmware: 3.AAK Date code: 0811-1
Site Code: CS CSO: 0846-6
I talked to one guy on here once, at le disque dur. He asked me for pics, and I have emailed him SEVERAL times since, he has yet to respond. Been 5 days now.
Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. What sucks most is, I ordered a new drive to backup the old one with just in case. The new one arrived the day after the pcb chip burned out. The drive spins up fine, just will not read or be recognized by my pc. The 8 legged chip has the numbers 4833 FZ W75C on it. I can send pics if needed. Thanks in advance, Mike. |

Hi, I'm sorry, I was rushed like mad at work when I posted that. I am hoping to find a compatible pcb that I can use to pull my data back off, either that, or maybe someone here can fix mine? The guy at le disque dur said he could replace 3 chips on my board, and have it working again. However, he has since been unavailable for comments. Either way, this is a physical pcb chip problem with the drive, not a software recovery issue. |

I found a guy on ebay that had 2 matching 750gb hard drives with the same part # and firmware as my dead drive. I bought them both as new, for 90 each, and I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I can pull my data back off with one of their boards. will post again once tried |

The 2 new drives arrived today. One of them had matching chips the same as my old drive. So, I used that board. Needless to say, as soon as I plugged it in, my computer recognized the drive, and allowed full access to the drive. YAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All I used was the model, and firmware to make this work. Luckily 1 drive had the same brand chips, the other doesn't. So.... at any rate, I thank you all on this forum for your postings and insight. Not just on my drives, which nobody really helped with, but help in general. I was able to learn much by reading your posts. Thanks all, and take care, Mike. |
