I burned out one diode on the PCB
I know it is hard to find a perfect match HD or PCB for mine one.
because the PN is 9BJ14G-305
and the Firmware is 3.AAD
so I decide to repair the old one
Can anyone sell me a PCB no matter it works or not
I just want to pump out the diode and replace the bad one.
Thanks |

What does the diode look like? I have a dead PCB that is dead because one of the squarish electromagnet ripped out. The rest should be fine if you want it for parts. Just show me the picture of your board and i'll tell you if that part on mine is fine for salvage.
mine is:
model: ST3320620AS
P/N: 9BJ14G-305
firmware: 3.AAE
site: WU
chip is: agere 100404225 SEAGATE YUMACPA2-E16 0631S 6504407 N015916 A4
bar code on pcb: 100406530 C 3710mmyw
Not quite the same thing give then firmware difference. I don't know if that helps. |

I show you the pic
My damage part is inside the red circle.

The controller is the same
Mine is also agere chipset
PN is the same
Only the firmware version is different
If I can repair my PCB
Maybe I would try to upgrade the firmware to AAE |

Yeah, i ripped one of those square things too. I tried to solder it back but that didn't work out very well for me. The tricky part was to make the the solder reach the very thin copper solenoid wire inside.
The one i ripped was the one right above to the right of the one you've circled in red.
If you want it, send me a pm with your email and i'll see how much it'll take for me to ship my dead PCB. |

I found out that is a SMT 3R3 POWER INDUCTOR
3.3uH
Or you can use SMD 3r3 to replace it
Or you can use the urgy one
Maybe I try to get one see whether I can fix it or not |

Sweet. Tell me where you get them if it's online. I'll try the same too.
Or i can try going to my local electronics store see if they have it. But what do all these things mean, SMT, 3R3.
When buying an inductor, what are the specs i need to match? amp, ohm, etc.
EDIT: alright, SMT / SMD surface mounted device (versus the ones with wires) |

smt means surface mount technology
SMD means surface mount device
I think you just tell the shop people you want a 3R3 inductor should be enough.
For inductor there are many shapes
some are like a core
I think you can get it in ebay
3R3 MEANS 3.3 uH |

The traditional one is like a resistor or a wired core
but now people like to minimize it
so the SMD comes out
That one is a shielded SMD wire wound power inductor
Now we know the inductance is 3.3uH
DC resistance should be ±20% (I think)
but I don't know the maximum current
Maybe you can ask some expert to tell. |

OMG
I brought couples of inductors and put them back to the PCB
But again, the drive still doesn't work.
Now I asked a shop to get me one PCB
Hope that they can help me out.
Still waiting.........

Hi BAOV
Are you there?
I find a shop can get me new PCB for my seagate harddrive
It is quite cheap
BUT I need to replace the rom myself.
If you want to order one, I can ask them to add an order.
They need to know the Big chips number
and the driver chips number
SH6960BE or 100369972
Mine is SH6960BE |

I'll try replacing the inductor first. The idea of having to replace a chip with 8 pin is scary. My soldering iron is large and clumsy, i don't think i have the skill to be replacing chips.
If it still doesn't work, i'll check out this other option. |

OK, that's fine
I will go to that shop to get one for myself.
Hope you can fix it with the inductor.
Seem I don't have PC3000
I cannot flash the firmware.
Even I have, I need a working drive to flash.
The ROM SWAP is my only option.
I am tried to find the perfect match of the PCB or drive
It is so hard to get it right. And won't be cheap. |

How do you flash the firmware anyways?
And i'm ready to put out the money to get the hdd fixed. Even if i could just buy another one, the data has value, and you created more e-waste if you throw away a perfectly good hdd with a burned pcb.
Actually, if it's not too late, i'll check all the chips once i come home tonight and if you can find a PCB that doesn't need me to flash a firmware or replace a chip i'll consider buying it for a sure shot. |

I heard somebody call seagate to send them a firmware to flash.
ROM SWAP is quite difficult for me too
So I will ask a cellphone repair shop to paid them to do it for me.
I know some informations of the firmware is stored on the FLASH ROM
Maybe the P-list? Or maybe the P-list only store on Track ZERO
I am not sure.
For you case, the shop hasn't told me what the original Firmware is on that PCB.
By the way, I saw a case just exactly like yours
The guy pull out the HD and break the inductor
He just bought a inductor and make the drive works.
So, maybe you don't even need a new drive or PCB
All you need is a Inductor.
