Can anyone give some advice on whether its worth trying to recover my dead drive. The only reason why i'm bothering is that it has some of my sons christmas play photos on it.
The drive isnt recognised in the bios and it doesnt spin up. It was working prior to a powercut ( the machine was plugged in but not turned on at the front ).
The relevant details are
WD 40GB disk
Model : WD400BB-00DEA0 ( ironic should have read 00DEAD ! )
Date : 28 may 2002
DCM : HSCACV2AH
PCB number etched on board - 2060-001129-001 ( no white label strangely)
Is the DCM number important ?
Do the symptoms suggest PCB ( it looks physically ok - no burnt bits !) ?
Any help would be appreciated. I have access to lots of machines at work, i will try hunting down the same model and date if its a goer.
