Hello everyone. New member here. Hope someone can bail me out of a mess.

For over a year I've been holding a non-functional WD800. It's from a friend who never backed up - guess what I bought her for Christmas - and it had personally irreplaceable stuff like pictures of her recently deceased mother.

I'm reasonably certain it's the electronics and not a head crash.

Anyway, it shows as WD800BB-55JKA0 and DCM of HSBHYTJAA. (Is that sufficient to define the requirements?) Date on the unit is Oct 24, 2004.

Obviously, I'd love to purchase the equivalent circuit board, figuring it has at least a modest chance of letting me get the data.
