|
|
So there I was, Sunday afternoon minding my own business. Playing music from my good old Western Digital 200gb drive, stored snuggly in its external case, when all of a sudden the music stops. I check the back of the external and power cable is out. It must have been bumped. Silly me.
I plug back in the power cable. Windows detects my drive with the 'bing bong', but nothing shows up in My Computer, nor in Disk Management. Then a few minutes later a little bubble pops up and says theres an problem with my drive and it may not work properly. Yer no $%# Mr Microsoft.
So I promptly restart, reconnect it all again. Nothing. Could it be that I have finally had my very first H/D crash. I rip the case off the PC, connect it up as a Slave. Restart and nothing. So I check in BIOS and it does detect the drive, but says its like 8.76gb.
Next day I awake and take my drive into work. Between breaks I connect the drive up to a random PC and nothing happens. So I remove the drive from the enclosure and Slave it up to another IDE friendly PC. Same thing, detects as an 8gb drive and no detection in windows.
The drive is not vibrating or feels like it is spinning at all. However there is power going to it.
Oh well I thought to myself, only games, music on there, no biggy. I advise the GF of my poor H/D's problem. She asked about the 1000's of photos and whether they are safe. Oh noes...
She asks how much it is to fix, I checked the prices and nearly faint. $700 - $2000 for repair!?!? I could by a new Rig for that!
I seem to have found a logic board for the drive. What important info do I need to make sure I am getting the correct logic board?
Model #?
DCM #?
WD P/N #?
Anything else? |

Unfortunately, new board won't help in your case.
You need a help of a pro, otherwise you will waste money repairing unnecessary things. _________________ www.datarecoveryne.com |

if the new board from the same hard disk does not fit, you must move from the old board to a new board ROM chip (chip 25P10AV). And it works. |
