I am in search of a logic board for a Western Digitial firewire/usb combo drive. This is also the special edition drive with the neon lights in the casing. The drive died on me and won't spin up. I think the board is out. I don't remember the size of it, maybe 160GB. The drive doesn't have any information pasted onto it so I don't know exactly what model it is. If anyone has any idea or know where I can get a board just to try then please help. Thanks!

One of the problems with modern hard disk drives (in particular WD) is that the ROM chip on the new board will need replacing with the ROM from the old board.

Many manufacturers are now storing the fine-tuning/Servo Tracking info of drives in ROM/S-ROM/NV-RAM and sometimes embedded ROM in the processor itself. Which means that direct board swaps are becoming a thing of the past.
