Hey everybody.
So I have a refurbished Western Digital 250GB EIDE drive that has stopped spinning altogether. I'm trying to find a replacement logic board/PCB to recover the data from this drive.
In refurbishing, the WD label has been removed, and instead there is a label reading, among other things: "White Label"; "Product of Singapore" (WD is all Malaysia); "Enhanced EIDE Drive"; "MDL MD02500-BJBW"; "Date 31 Dec 2006"; "DID JB00REA02500"; "S/N MCANK4973098". I know the drive was originally a Western Digital because their name is stamped on the metal backside of the drive (along with "2063 703771 001 TB61PT"), about an inch southeast of the stepper motor.
Does anyone recognize this info?
Ultimately, I just want to replace the PCB, model # 2061-701292-C00 AB.
It's one of the L-shaped boards, as opposed to the more square/rectangle shaped boards.
I tried a PCB rated at ATA 100, 7200rpm, but with a 2MB buffer (versus 8mb), and upon powering up, I immediately blew a capacitor right near the 4-pin power connection. This, clearly, isn't a compatible PCB.
Does anyone have any advice or knowledge about where I can find a compatible PCB? Again, the model of the one on there now is "2061 701292 C00 AB", with ATA100, 7200rpm, and 8mb buffer specs.
PLEASE HELP! I have about 150 movies backed up on this drive, representing many weeks and months of time spent archiving them all, and I'd hate to have to rebuild such a collection from scratch.
Thanks!
Jake
P.S. Here's some images (blurry since taken from a cell phone) of the drive:
