my frined recently give me two western digital hard drives 250GB, in put them into a external enclosure and my computer recognized it, but i says cant not be installed and , is not working properly,, and i click update driver and widows installed, and says is working properly, but i cant see it im my computer, i try to download the drivers from western digital web site, but still doesn't work,,,,,can someone help me please?? is it the frimware? drivers? |

Have you checked the jumpers? I had same problem when I put a hdd in to a lan server enclosure forgot to set hdd as master. |

Check if you can see the new drive in
Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Disk Management.
You don't need any utilities or drivers if your Windows and drive itself is functioning properly. |
