|
|
I have a Seagate SATA 160GB drive from which I have unfortunately "released the smoke". ( not really that funny )
I am 99% certain that the only the PCB has been damaged as the board smoked as soon as I powered it up ( no apparent spin up prior to the smoke).
As I have received several different answers regarding replacing the PCB - I am looking for a definite answer.
Question: Considering the assumed status of the hard drive - this being that the mechanical side is OK and only the PCB has been damaged.
Is it safe to further assume that a replacement PCB will resolve the issue?
Do you have a PCB for it?
What do I need to match up in a replacement PCB?
I have a scanned image of the PCB if needed.
Thanks!

First thing is to find a matching board for your drive and go from there. _________________ www.datarecoveryne.com |

Ok, but what exactly do I need to match...?
I get so many different answers, I don't know which one is correct. |

Most important info is stored on a disk it self, but you can't get access to it without special equipment.
You might have to try several boards before you find correct one.
Other option is to send your drive to a pro, which should not be expensive to reprogram new board to a drive specifications. _________________ www.datarecoveryne.com |
