|
|
I had a unlucky accident, there a was tiny puff of smoke and shorted a Diamond Max Plus 9 80GB SATA / 150 and now there is no life to the drive. I hope to bring it back to life just for the purposes of rescuing the data.
Spec:
HDD: Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 80Gb SATA/150
Code: YAR51HW0 K,M,G,A
Model: 6Y080M0
Mfg Date: 16 Jan 2005
HDD sticker:
U8FYA
3112408CMYER
What relevence is K,M,G,A and does it have to match as well?
The short happened on 2 legs half way down the Samsung chip (possibly the buffer ram) which is to the right of the Main Controller IC chip in the pic.
This link is a close up picture of my PCB but my PCB has a different main controller IC which is 040119500.

What is the possible damage and would a new PCB fix the drive? If so do you know of any stockists with the exact match PCB preferably in the UK.
Thanks. |
