Hi

I have a SEAGATE BARRACUDA 7200.10 320 GB which is not spinning up any more...

When I power it up, no vibrations. We can just hear a little "tictictictictic" when we put the ear close to the hard drive.

Is the disk recognised by PC? if not i have the same problem.

My disk have diferent datacode and sit code, and is a Sata, other things just like yours

I think is a head problem.
I cant pay 1000eur for a recovery data, so i want to try to change my self the heads by my risk.
I need a disk with exactly same model or witch one can be diferent?
ST3320620AS is compatible? the only diference is 8MB->16MB cache

From what I've read on the forums, it sounds like you have a head problem.

I also believe I have a head problem and am wondering the following:

I have a model: st3320620a

I can get a hold of a model st3320620as (where the 's' at the end indicates it's a SATA connection).

If I ensure it's the same model, firmware, etc, would the head be replaceable, or would there be a difference in the heads depending on whether its IDE or SATA?

Hi guys,

I've the same hard disk (ST3320820A).

My PCB is dead and I can't pay some hundreds in data recovery service.

Can I try to put the defective platters in another similar hard disk drive (320GB Seagate like ST3320620A or the same ST3320820A) or that will never work?

Some ideas???
