I have ST3160811AS, firmware 3.AAE, this was running and has a Vista Business image. This drive seemed to have some issues being detected by BIOS. But when undetected by BIOS, I restart the computer and after some tries, it detects it, but when trying to load the OS, it is always failing.
I bought a SATA-USB adapter and hooked this up via USB, but the USB driver got installed but unfortunately when I got to a Windows explorer, I see the icon spinning as if it is trying to read the drive.
Now, coming to the drive itself, the drive seems to spin okay with an occasional clicking sound. But when I touched the PCB Logic Controller board, it seemed very hot, don't know how I could measure the temperature.
I have been reading over the forums, but did not quite find something similar to my issue. Is the Logic Controller gone bad? Any way to check? I removed the Logic board but it does appear that physically atleast the components look okay.
Any ideas, again any suggestions are welcome. Thanks. |

Buy a new drive and don't waste your time and efforts on fixing this one, it will cost you more then a brand new drive. _________________ www.datarecoveryne.com |
