Drive Details:
Maxtor 96147H6
Code: ZAH814Y0
Dsp: 040103800
Made in Singapore
Manufactured: 30 Oct 2000
My hard drive was making a very loud clicking noise and was not found in the bios or windows. The harddrive has not been dropped. When I tested it today it started making a softer clicking then it would not power on. As far as I can tell I don't see any burned parts on the pcb board. What kind of problem do you think it is? Would a pcb swap help? |

You have an old Maxtor drive, which most likely had dirty heads or failed heads on it, that is why it was clicking.
If your drive does no make any noises any more, your PCB could have failed also, but if it does makes slight noises motor could have seized. _________________ www.datarecoveryne.com |
