Spindle motor will not spin up. Would like to try PCB replacement first. No obvious burnt components on the board. Drive was an external that just basically stopped responding. No signs of head crash.

I believe you will need to transplant the serial EEPROM chip at U12 from patient to donor. This IC stores unique drive specific information. If you are not adept at soldering, your local TV/AV repair shop should be able to do this for you.

Thanks, I've been researching this for a while now and everything points to either the board or the spindle motor. Board is a lot easier than the motor. No signs of debris on the stickers and I took the cover off to inspect the platters inside a class 1 cleanroom. I'm an equipment engineering tech for one of the largest semiconductor manufacturers in the world.
