Here's the sad story of my drive, hopefully someone will be able to help!

The drive:
Western Digital WD2500KS-00MJBO 250GB SATA

Label: 2061-701335-C00 AG
Board: 2060-701335-005 Rev A

So I had 2 of these drives working in Raid0 for a few years now. A few days ago, one of them stopped working - it would not even spin up. I found this forum, did some searching, and as an experiment I took the PCB off the working drive, put it on the dead one, and was excited to hear it spin up!

However, BIOS still wouldn't recognize it. It listed its model number as WDC ROM MODEL - HAWK, and the capacity as 8.01GB instead of 250GB.

My question is - would swapping in the original U12 ROM chip fix this, or is this a symptom of something else happening?

I'd also be happy to work with one of the specialists here to get a replacement board and/or to do the full service on the drive. Please send me an estimate! I'm in the US (Seattle).

i have this PCB in stock. please feel free to contact me by email or MSN if need.
does you have same drive. right? so you can take off good PCB from good drive. and swap bad drive ROM chip to good PCB. it should be able to get work with your patient drive. for swap PCB you must swap original ROM chip. or you can send entire drive to me. i can do full service for you.
