Hi Guys,
btw fantastic idea this forum!
i have a hard drive, a WD3000 (p/n: WD3000BB-00KEAO).
and when i've got her for about 4ys,
she broke down 3ys ago, i kept her safe because i knew that one day i could recover the data. i hope this day has come.
she's spinning smooth, without strange noizes, if i connect her true a ATA-USB, windows (XP) doesn't even see her, so i suggest the controller (logic board) is broke.
i searched on google and i can find some drives but most of the webshops won't ship to belgium (europe).
i see here that logic-board shops or just somebody who wants to sell me that specific logic board/hdd, i hope that somebody want to ship to europe, at an affordable price?
Western Digital 300 GB
all specs: Model: WD3000BB-00KEA0
DCM: DSCACAJCA
(bottom) sticker on the ATA connector:
2061-701314-000 AE XS 2K10 27 WF 6 0006180 6186
on the print: 2060-701314-002 REV A
i would hope to be able to switch the logicboard, maybe change the firmware component if the firmware is not the same. |

If your drive spins up, as you say, it's most likely not a board.
You should search for data recovery company to recover your data.
This one is recommended company in Belgium: http://www.datarecuperatie.be _________________ www.datarecoveryne.com |

why do you say that?
i have a harddrive where a peace of the logicboard is melted,
i didn't need the data on the HDD so i opened it up and even with a fried logic board the drive still spins when i power it up!
a hard drive is a pure mechanical thing, only the read-bridge needs software how it should work...
i thought this forum was to help each other out,
not to give links to expensive repair-shops.
if i need a repairshop i will google,
if i need help i will use a forum! |

Can we see a detailed photo of your board?
That said, the rule of thumb appears to be that, if a drive spins up, or if it tries to spin up, then the board is probably OK. Instead the problem is most likely with the HDA (head/disc assembly).
If, OTOH, the drive makes no noise at all, and does not attempt to spin up, then the board is probably faulty.
BTW, I'm not a DR guy, so I have no interest in your business. I only want to help. |

[quote="Corsalove"]embedding twitpic doesn't work as we can see,
so here are the links

Sorry, I can now see the photos, but I can't see the physical damage you are describing.
ISTM that your problem is most likely a HDA issue, not PCB. :-( |
