What's wrong with the Samsung drive??? Do you need the PCb or the heads or preamp or the external case????

Hard drive BSOD.

Rebooted laptop, bios no longer found the drive.
Pulled the drive from the laptop and put it into an external USB enclosure.

Drive not recognized by windows, drive not even spinning up. Getting no power. Acrid smell coming from the PCB like it had fried.

The house I live in is old, with old wiring and an old panel. I run all my electronics through surge protectors and power conditioners.

Apparently my girlfriends laptop wasn't. Embarassed

So I'm guessing it took a power surge.
