You have to buy special equipment in order to do that.
Equipment like PC3000, Salvation, Atola....

are you indeed specialist? in what operating these tools?
Guru's dont need these tools. Remember 7200.11 can be fixed by peoples even who dont know these words.
My query was to get familiar with ATA commands which can do lot of things. Ultimately what does all your tools do ? issue specific ata commands only. Knowldge is everything not tools Very Happy

I am afraid it is more complicated then just ATA commands. While the ATA standard outlines specific functionality that is needed for the standard; the inner workings of every manufacturer's firmware is very much different, and all manufacturers use a entirely different set of commands to gain access to the firmware.

While you may not NEED these tools to perform recovery, if you want to go the "Guru" route you will need a "Bus analyzer" to start.

Seagate and Samsung drives are special because they have a "Serial interface". You can create a special adapter that connects to jumpers on the disk, and gain direct access to the drives CPU/Firmware this way, but it is again a proprietary set of commands that only works for seagates, or samsungs (each have their own command interface)
