Trying to salvage a Seagate PATA 750GB HDD that seems to spin but bios doesn't see the drive.

Looking for the following controller board or hard drive to buy or trade or borrow (I'd be willing to compensate) long enough to recover data:

ST3750640A
p/n 9BJ048-300
FW 3.AAC
Date Code: 06493
Site Code: AMK

PM me if you have one available or any helpful ideas.

Thanks,
Charlie.

I doubt that you have a board problem.
Could you describe what is going on with your drive?
Does BIOS recognize anything?

harddrivespecialist,

Thank you for taking the time to respond. At power up, I hear the drive spin up, but my Mother board bios doesn't "see" the drive. After about 10 seconds the bios quits looking and give me a "no drive found message" and continues booting.

Earlier I notice the pin 39 and 40 on the IDE connector were bent and shorted together, I fixed, and there is no obvious shorts remaining (ie don't believe the Voltage suppression diodes were blown short, so I am hoping that if I can find a controller board with the same p/n and FW revision swapping might work.

Charlie

Charlie,

As stated before, I don't think you have a board problem.
You can try a new board, but you will waste a lot of time and money.

Where are you located? Maybe I can offer to diagnose a problem for you, if you want.
