Yep! It might work. I smoked a board on a laptop drive (I hooked the ribbon up backwards *oops*) and was able to swap the board with another one from the same size and make of drive. Larger capacity boards may work as well or at least as long as the C.H.S are the same anyway. Not sure on the firmware though. I never realized about the firmware until I saw this site so I never paid attention to it unfortunately.
