Hello, first post, hoping to get some much needed advice on what to do next here. I have a WD1500ADFD - 00NRL0 drive with appx 139 gigs of data on it. This was a drive I had been using to create backups from other drives on my computer when it suddenly quit. Though the BIOS would recognize it, it would cause Windows to seize up. So, after holding onto it for a while, I sent it to a data recovery company, SalvageData.com. They had the drive in a clean room for 2 1/2 weeks and finally came back with this email to me.

"We have completed the diagnosis and recovery research for your hard drive. Your drive was evaluated in our lab room where we were unable to read the specified data from the drive surface due to media corruption. There is no physical damage to the media, but we’ve discovered that certain areas on the media critical to disk operation have been overwritten and damaged (corruption). Corrupted information cannot be recovered. At times the firmware of the drive can be recreated, sometimes not. Due to the extent of the damage the data is unrecoverable. "

So, I had the drive shipped back to me. My next thoughts are, should I send it on to a company such as Drive Savers? I spoke with them in regards to this matter and was told they have a moderate chance of retrieving the data as they have gotten drives rendered irretrievable before from SalvageData and retrieved the info. I guess since this would be my second shot, I don't wanna screw it up. I had also considered myharddrivedied.com as they are cheaper and having viewed the vids on youtube, the owner seems knowledgeable. + their costs are cheaper.

Any suggestions?

If someone already had a look at your drive, next step is to send to a super professinal and expect a heavy charges for a recovery.

Hunting for a better price won't help you, just will make things worse.

Professionals won't post video's on youtube...

Advice, do not store more then 80% of your drive capacity in a future, desirebly up to 50%

Well, who would you recommend? DriveSavers? Or is there somebody else out there who would specialize in the issue of the firmware being corrupted that may have better luck?
