Ok, the drive would "chirp" occasionally frm day one. Dont worry about it everyone said. Well yesterday, I rebooted my computer after installing a new video card, and it hung at 2 screens for a few minutes during the boot. Odd I said to myself. Well the computer booted up, and I went to play some music...only to find the drive not there. (This drive only houses my music, photos, movies, etc.) WTF? It's got a single chirp every 20 seconds or so, but thats it. I shut down and restarted the computer, and I can feel the drive spin up, so it must be comething to do with the arm. Everything I've read online says its the logic board, so I need one. The drive is still under warranty, but I'm not paying $2500 for Seagate to get my data off first...seems like a rip off to me. Their drive screwed up, but I have to pay to get my stuff off even though its under warranty. What sense does that make? So anywho, heres the details. Model: ST3500630AS. P/N: 9BJ146-308. Firmware: 3.AAK. Date cide: 07497. Site Code TK. If anyone has a logic board for this or can help me out I'd GREATLY appreciate it. I've got TONS of photos that I need off of this drive. Family photos, wedding photos, etc. The music I'd like to get off as well, theres so much of it that took me so long to get, as well as the movies, but the pics are my priority. Thanks in advance
