I have a 20.4AT LB20A011 Rev 01-A. I read some stories of board replacement, I feel that I could accomplish this as the board is exposed on the back, 4 screws. If I were to attemt to replace this board, do you think that I may screw something up to the point that a more knowledgeable person would have difficulty recovering the data? |

If you simply going to change a board on your drive it will not decrease a chance of recovery, UNLESS there is a surface damage on your disks.
Let me ask you another question, why do you think your board has failed? _________________ www.datarecoveryne.com |

Well here is the scoop. This drive came out of my Fathers computer after he passed away, it was working when I last fired up that computer about 3 years ago in Minnesota (cold winters)This fall I took it out of the computer, trashed the computer and brought the hard drive out to California, I tried to hook it up on my computer, went to my bios and did a hd search on 1 and 2, could not detect anything, nothing happened. I decided to try to just see if it would power up, could not detect anything, no noise buzz or whirr at all. I bought an external box to hook up via usb, my computer did not recognise it at all. Just thought that maybe something was not powering up, or spinning up, maybe disk siezed up???
I am just trying any suggestions that an amteuer can try without losing any data, I can not afford to spend much money, but the photos on this drive are important to the family, any suggestions are appreciated.
