Rev A is printed on the PCB, but if you need any more info, let me know!!!
If anyone has a source for this, I'd LOVE it!!!

So I just got off the phone with Samsung's TTS (Total Tech Solutions, Inc) because they mistakenly shipped me a SP1654N, when I need an SP2514N.
Anyway, they told me that even if I got the SP2514N that there was no chance that my data would be recoverable as the drive "needs to be reprogrammed."
I figured if the controller board was 100% the same, then it should work... Any thoughts on this? I really can't afford $2800 to do a platter swap in a mere class 100 room.
Or if anyone knows of a good cheap place that can do this, I'd be willing to spend $500 easy; but not much more than that.

Hi there dnb,
I'm in the same boat as you. I have a Samsung SP2514N that I need to recover data from. Assuming the problem is with the controller board it should work whenever you replace it with a working one. If the problem is there would be no use. What (TTS) told you is complete bull, even if it happened to erase the drive's data table it's still possible to recover it.
The difficult part is finding a working or new drive to replace it with. I just had a bad experience with a seller ::Upgradebay.com:: they just sent me a used non working hard disk, that i will have to try to get my money back. Just a heads up!
Anyways, like I said it's a matter of finding a working drive, I want to ask you if perhaps you would be willing to share the drive if you find one that works? I would do the same if I find one myself. |
