Ok I am an idiot - I accidentally plugged a 19v transformer plug into my Seagate FreeAgent Pro drive instead of the normal 12v plug. It just happens that the plugs fit exactly and I didn't realize it until it was too late. Needless to say it didn't work after this. After stripping out the HD I have determined that the HD's PCB is damaged since my computer refuses to start when the SATA HD power connector is plugged into it. I have read that I might be able to swap the HD PCB to access my data but that if the firmware or p/n is a different version it won't work.

Here is the info on the drive:

SEAGATE BARRACUDA 7200.10
500GB
Model ST3500630AS
P/N 9BJ146-568
FIRMWARE - 3.AFK
DATE CODE 07287

I noticed there are several people selling this drive on the web but none of the P/N they list match mine exactly. For example there is a 9BJ146-305, and 9BJ146-308, also a 9BJ146-622. Should I be more concerned with the firmware number matching up or the P/N? Any advice would be so appreciated since this HD has thousands of family pics on it.

I live in San Diego, California.

Thanks! Mad
