|

I am in the need of a pcb for a Seagate 320 GB SATA drive. Here are the specs of my dead drive:
p/n 9BJ14G-300
Firmware 3.AAC
Site Code: WU
There are apparently two pcbs floating around for this drive that I know of, as I bought a used drive with the same firmware but it came with a pcb that was as simple as I can put it a fullsize pcb. My drive has a pcb that covers 3/4 of the area on the back of the drive. I can provide images....
Please save me from my hell of losing my data. |

This could be good or bad - I need the same board - exactly. One of the small chips on it just fried. I think something touched it and shorted it out, but, in any case, it fried a lead completely off of one of the chips (the smaller of the two that says SMOOTH) Anyone had any luck with this? I'm going to hunt and see if I can find one too, but, if you've found it, please let us know! |

My drive has same p/n and firmware as you require but probably not the same sitecode. However I am not sure about it is the same PCB as yours!

ST3320620AS
P/N: 9BJ14G-300

Have you had any luck in finding one? Obviously I am willing to pay for a replacement part.
All the best,

will be PMing the participants of this thread in case this post is of interest to them.
A good while back I posted a number of boards I had on hand which I've made available on a quasi-rental basis to folks in need. Bottom line has been that I end up with the equivalnent of a 24 pack of Bud which works out to be a lot less than minimum wage but much tastier. This isn't a business; this site helped me recover a dead drive several years ago and I know the misery that is involved. I don't frequent it regularly, generally when someone inquires about one of my boards which happened a couple of days ago. I'm sitting here working on my taxes and just dropped by for the hell of it as I had an open IE session on the site. I couldn't help but notice the rash of 3.AAC failures. A suspicious sort would kind of wonder whether there was not some malicious code in this firmware.
OK Steve cut to the chase.
I have a 3.AAC board. The reason its not posted is it is a new drive, box opened but still sealed, unlike my other spare drives. The fact that this is a brand new drive makes a huge difference in its resale value, and quite honestly my current cash flow situation makes it difficult . I'd been cogitating on using it and some other idle drives to build a Network Addressed Storage device. I just bought an HP Media Vault NAS so that notion is gone, and this drive was headed for eBay probably tomorrow.
I'm putting that on hold.
Most if not all the posts are looking for a 3.AAC for a 320gb drive. Mine is a 300gb. The details:
Model: ST 2200620A
P/N: 9BJ043-300
Firmware: 3.AAC
Date Code: 07052
Site Code: WU (China)
My only hands on board swap involved a Maxtor. In that case it did not seem to matter as to drive size. I recovered a 120gb drive with a logic board from a 160gb, same firmware. My drive would not spin up after the disaster, with the different board it did at which time I was able to recover files but only by using recovery software (I used GetDataBack). My guess is that this board I have has a good chance of working for 320s.
I'll stop here. I am open to any thoughts you may have as to the suitability of this board and my quandary. But I will say upfront I am not auctioning it here. If I sell it as new it will be on eBay. I am not trying to be opportunisitc. If I could open the drive up an make it "the People's board" (70's jargon) without totally screwing myselfI I would be delighted. This post is off the cuff and I haven't given it much thought, but I know that would be a non-trivial undertaking. Who gets the board when? How? etc. Lots of logistics and potential headaches. I am fishing here for brilliant ideas.
One last thing, Check out my post at:

How do you guys know it's the PCB? My hard drive is experiencing eerily similar symptoms, but how do I know it's the board and not the drive? In my case, I haven't used this PC for about 3 months, tried to boot it up today and got an error that the drive was not found. Tried it on 2 pcs. Seagate wants to charge me a ridiculous amount to get the data (it's photos and MP3s, I'll be pissed if they're gone, but it's not the end of the world). Any ideas how I can tell if it is the PCB? I see no visible damage. Also, yes I'm looking for the same board:
ST3320620AS
P/N 9BJ14G-300
3.AAC
Anyone have any luck finding a place to get these? |

To know if it is the pcb, check the board for burned chips. If not, then the problem is with the drive. However, I need more info about the problem and your hard drive, such as, firmware, S/N and etc. |
