Background :
My HD Seagate Barracuda 7200 40GB is a second HD I used as data storage. On the other day I accidently copy some huge data over 40GB to it. Now my OS (WinXP) can't detect my Barracuda...
I have use Acronis Disk Director to recover it, but it told me that the disk is an unallocated drive with 7 GB free space and did nothing to do with the drive.
What should I do to recover the files ? |

Dear friend,
I want to ask one question before giving you any advice. Which data you want to recovery? The data before you accidently copy some huge data over 40GB to it? or the file you copied on the disk?
If you tried to recovery the files which you alrady accidently overwritten? You have a slim chance to recover some data but not complete.
First, if you need data, please don't try any more logical recovery softwares. It will make your situtation worse.

Dear Salvationlaura,
Thanks to reply to my question, it's a like a fresh breeze air to know that you want to help me fix the problem.
It seem to me that the problem arise because of the HD didn't have any more free space left so the OS couldn't read it, and fortunately, I didn't try to write/overwrite the partition, so the the data in the drive is still safe. It's all recovered now. Anyway, I'm gratefully thanks for your kindness and your will to spend your precious time to help me. |
