I sent my 8.01 board to a guy in England, who I thought was going to use it and return it. Apparently he is not going to, and is incommunicado. So as of now, I no longer have an 8.01 board available.

I suffered a drive failure well over a year ago, and made a nearly full recovery with assistance from this board doing a logic board swap and recovery software called GetDataBack from Runtime.org (no plug intended; I used it it works and you can try it for free)

I think this section can be a great help for people and am disappointed that it is not garnering more use. I have a stack of hard drives old and recent that I am not using, and will be posting them as time permits. I'm not looking to sell the drives or the logic boards, and I'm not out to make big dough doing this. If I have something of interest contact me and we can try to work something depending on your needs.

So let's get started:

Maker: Seagate
Model: ST3160023A
Size: 160gb
P/N: 9W2084-399
HDA P/N: 100374955
Config: CXT-01
Firmware: 8.01
Chip: ST
Date Code: 06125
Site Code: WU
Condition: Drive and logic board appear perfect
Manufactured in: China

Well I'm not that happy happy after my hard drive stopped responding with all my 20G data, worth 7 years of data. I need to recover everything. I just can't afford to loose all that data. I have my new born baby pictures, even before he was born, my wife pregnancy, and school data, job and lots of more important data.

Hope you can help me
Thank you for your time

Reporting back now as a result of this. I fried the logic board on my HDD. Couldn't figure out where the connection was getting broken, so I started prodding around the HDD with a voltage tester, snagged on something, and made a big spark. Logic board wouldn't transfer power from then on out.

Happyhappy sent me over his HDD and let me use the logic board. I hooked it up to mine, plugged it in, transfered the data right off, and then put it back onto his HDD. I paid $10+shipping back to happyhappy for something that Seagate would have charged me a few thousand dollars to recover. Nice system!

For those of you trying to figure out a Logic Board trade for yourself, here's the drive I fried:

Maker: Seagate
Model: ST3160023A
Size: 160gb
P/N: 9W2084-399
HDA P/N: 100374955
Config: CXT-01
Firmware: 8.01
Date Code: 06125
Site Code: WU

Our serial numbers were about 200 drives apart if they do them in order...

So I guess we know that identical boards are interchangeable... HAHA!

HappyHappy, you think you can send me a logic board that can fit the specs of my HD? I seriously need your help, please tell me that there is still hope, really I need help with this drive. I've been looking for this drive or something similar that will let me get all my data out of this drive. The drive is not damaged, its just the board that got fried, when I plug in the IDE adapter with the USB cord to my laptop, it does recognize the drive but will not pick it up. But when I put the power the HD dies, no power goes through. Please help me or if you know of anyone that might be able to help me, please. Thank you. you can check my specs.

Hello,

I recently powered down my pc and when trying to turn it back on i got no response,
So i did a process of elemination with power supply and came to the realization that my secondary drive which has everything important to me is causing the short.

So i removed the board that houses the power supply plug in, ide plug in and jumpers. Plugged that into pc and it will not allow pc to power on. Has anyone had success with swaping out these boards?

I cant stomache paying seagate 1800 dollars to pull of the info.

My specs are as follows

Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 160 gb internal 3.5
model # ST3160023a
s/n 5JS7*T5N
P/N 9W2084-371
HDA p/n 100348955
config D8M-03

+5v 0.72a
+12v 0.35a

Firmware 8.01

Desperate need of this brd or advice thank you

chkcobra,

Unless your board has burnes on it, you could have other problems with your drive.

Hi,
Was wondering if this circuit board was still available, I have a drive that can't get detected by the bios. The drive sounds like it powers on and spins up normal, so I'm assuming the circuit board is bad. Has anyone experience this problem before?

HDA P/N: 100316774

If you replaced a board and it does not spin, it means that your motor has stalled. You need data recovery pro to get your data back.

Still have a board around which is compatible?

I just broke a component on my PCB. I've been told that it's an inductor. It's a little cylinder with "100" on it and a copper coil inside. I might be able to reattach it, but if I can get a PCB, that'd be a better swap.

My specs:
Maker: Seagate
Name: Barracuda 7200.7
SN: 5JS8ZXE3
Model: ST3160023A
Size: 160gb
P/N: 9W2084-399
HDA P/N: 100374955
Config: CXT-01
Firmware: 8.01
Date Code: 06251
Site Code: WU

Sounds like we're pretty much completely identical--just a small difference in the date code (heck, just in a different order). If you have something that works, I'd be incredibly happy.

Looks like the logic board got fried. My old Samsung which was connected as a slave at the time survived.

My specs are

Barracuda 7200.7
160 Gbytes
Model: ST3160023A
S/N: 5J87002S
P/N: 9W2084-371
HDA P/N: 100316774
Config: D8M-03
Firmware: 8.01

Now the question is, how much of the above do I need to stand a chance of working my existing drive if I swap the logic board? From the Main Story, I thought it'd work with Model Number and Firmware 8.01. Does the P/N need to be exact? What about S/N?

Many thanks
