Hi, I need the same controller you do. My board is more obviously killized in that it has a capacitor or diode that exploded - black burn mark all around it. I got another of the same harddrive, but after swtching boards it didn't spin up. It was a 100299703 E instead of 100299703 D. Thats my guess at the significant difference. Firmware was the same, model was the same.

We should work together to get our harddrives working - I *really* want my data back and don't want to pay those bastards at seagate any more money, especially not 700 to 2400 dollars for my data back. I would be interested in trying out your PCB board to see if it works. Please PM me.

I'm in the same position as you guys. My drive was in a cheap plastic enclosure that short-circuited. The platters spin but the drive is not recognized by my PC, and one spot on the logic board gets EXTREMELY hot when plugged in.

My Model # is ST3200822A, the part # is 9W2844-301 and the firmware is 3.01. I have read on some repair websites that the model number and firmware versions are the most important aspect when attempting to match a drive to a controller.

I am in desparate need for a logic board (PCB) and hope that someone reading this post can assist in obtaining one. I will also share any board that I obtain with you guys. I will pay shipping & handling if you are able to send one to me.

So there are quite a few of us with a similar circumstance.

Mine also no longer spins up. During use it shut down and that was it.

The hard drive model is Barracuda 7200.7

The model on the PCB board is 100299703 D 7609CUUG.

When I went to measure the voltage at the input is was not 5V&12V so something is bad on the board that is pulling the voltage down.

There was also no voltage at the connections to the motor. So at least it might not be the motor.

When I visually look at the board only one component has anything look odd with it. Its very close to where the power enters and is ST BUX C521. Its a two terminal device with a line at on end so maybe its a diode that has shorted. What I observe is that the solder on one end is brownish and one end is attached to ground (a trace to the screw hole).

I have another drive that is a different PCB shape but it has a similar component (ST E BUX C625). I might try to replace it.

Does anyone know what this component is for sure?

Does anyone have a board they can sell me so i can get my data back off of this bastard board? I called Seagate (there Tech Support is in India...awesome!), and they sent me to data recovery. Data Recovery quoted me at $1,800!! Yeah right!

Please help me out with any info on how to fix this thing. Do i need to find the logic board with the same firmware only? Or is there more that needs to match?

So I need your PCB E and have available a C.
