When I start my PC (Win2kPro OS) after 'Verifying DMI Pool Data' a message says 'Error loading operating system'. When boot from windows 2000 CD it says 'the drive is damaged or not formatted'. The hard drive is a seagate IDE and it passed the Seatools Short Drive Self Test, Long Drive Self Test, and Short Generic and Long Generic tests. I recovered data from the drive using GetDataBack software. Could the drive be fixed by software such as DiskPatch, SpinRite etc. or will I have to try replacing the control board ? |

How much data did you recover? All of it? If so, I would say just give up on it and replace it. |
