I figure this is the only place I have a chance of getting an answer to this question ....

So a while ago, I went to mount my 80gig maxtor HD (one partition, NTFS) under slackware linux, and I accidentally typed rw in my fstab line for it. As we all know, rewriteable access to ntfs partitions is still experimental under linux, and there is a 60% chance of "frying" the drive when you attempt to mount it as rw.

So I made the typo and went to mount it before I realized how stupid this mistake was. Is recovery even possible for the drive? What exactly happened to the drive? as in, what did attempting to mount it rewriteable do to it that causes it to simply not work at all?

Any/all comments and advice is appreciated. Thanks
