I have one which reads:
Date Code: 05432
and need to replace it. I know its ok to get a drive within a couple of weeks of the date code, which i why i would like to understand how to read it.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi
I'm also wondering the same. I'm looking for a replacement board for the same model too. Do you have any chance to get one?
Thanks. |

Thanks for your info. I appreciate that. But what I dont understand is the fiscal year. Isn't the first 2 digit represent the year? 06212 is year 2005? I thought it should be 2006.
Please advice. |

Thats the way you would think it should be. But for some strange reason you have to take the first two digits (YY) in this case 06 and -1, thus giving 05 as the year. Then for the next two digits (WW) you count 21 weeks from the 1st sat in july (in this case the first sat is the 2nd). 21 weeks from this date gives fri 25th of Nov. The next digit is for the number of days into that week, starting from sat. This gives us Sun 27th.
Its a very hard way of working out the date though, i dont see why they cant just use the accepted way of dd/mm/yy
Hope this helps you out ( i know it takes me a while to work it out)
Also, dont forget that you will need to open a calendar to go back a couple of years
