Hello all, first time on here and you'll be able to guess why I found you. I have a dead heard drive. Its an Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 drive that came in a LaCie box. I mistakenly connected it is a different power supply and low and behold it died.
That was a few months ago and through a lot of searching the web I came across this website. I eventually found an identical drive (a few months younger, but everything was the same) and bought it. I transferred the PCB and the old drive fired up. All well and good, except it didn't mount.
I then tried to remove the 5V diode as instructed on another post on this forum. That though hasn't worked. So I have a good PCB and a bad one. Am I right in assuming I need to remove one of the chips from the original PCB to run the new board on the harddrive?
I'm ok with swapping boards etc, but I don't rate myself at soldering. If I bought a new PCB would I still have the same issue in that I'd need to swap the chip?
Or could I send both boards somewhere and someone could replace them?
I'm based in the UK so sending overseas is not an issue.
Thanks for any help guys.

It's the 12V TVS diode that usually goes short circuit. |

Hi,
I'm looking for a clone drive or just a clone PCB for my dead Hitachi HDD - REF : HDT721010SLA360 (Date Code : Aug-2009 - P/N : 0A37993 - S/N : MS0ZZ3YK - MLC : BA3013).
PCB Main board : 110 0A90158 01
PCB Main CHIP : LSI UAB-M3071-S D2.2 0A58730 DEPHSG 0925
PCB Second CHIP : SAMSUNG 922 K4D261638K-LC50
PCB Sticker = 0A29987 BA3263 _ MzK929 06V1
I have understood that i have to exchange the U5 NVRAM from my hard disk to the clone. I'm engineer in electronics so I think i can do it myself.
BUT, unfortunately, after many (night) hours, I haven't found any exact complete clone HDD. Sometimes, it's the good PCB reference but not the good HDD part reference and sometimes it's the good HDD reference but not the correct PCB sticker.
So, my questions are :
1°) Is it really necessary to find the complete reference of my complete hard drive or just a clone compliant PCB (same Sticker reference = 0A29987 BA3263 _ MzK929 06V1).
2°) For the last part of the PCB reference, it seems not necessary to have the exact one (serial number ?). But for the first part (firmware or other ?), is it necessary to have the exact one if i change U5 and U7 from my HDD to the clone ?
3°) What's the difference between 0A29987 BA3263 and 0A29987 BA3129 or 0A29989 BA3129 or 0A29989 BA3263 ?
Thank you for your quick answers for each point.
Best regards. |
