Hi
I have a WD10TMVW USB 3 drive
It keeps connecting and disconnecting if connected to the computer with the usb cable provided with the drive.
Is there any way to recover the data from this drive?
How can i connect it to the computer SATA interface? Maybe the drive works then?
 
Any help is appreciated

WD users often report physical connection problems with the micro-USB connector in WD's Passport drives. I would touch up the USB pins with a soldering iron, or look for a tighter fitting cable (in case the connector has fatigued). Alternatively, remove the connector from the PCB and replace it with a larger B connector.

If you would like to connect via SATA, then be aware that certain WD models use hardware encryption, whether or not you have set a password. In any case we would need to see the other side of the PCB in order to identify the SATA Tx/Rx pairs. |

You have to integrate SATA connection to your PCB, plus have to deal with encryption after that in order to recover data.
If your drive disconnects many times, good chance that USB interface is loose.

Someone recently posted to another storage forum that he had successfully recovered his data after clamping the micro-USB connector to the PCB using an insulated vice.

The best thing that you can do is to get a new casing. This way you can be sure if the problem is mainly with the cable and casing alone. Also I think you can connect the HDD to a laptop directly if you know the assembly.
