Hi guys,
I have been given a WD 1Tb Green drive to fix for a friend.
The foam between the logic board and drive case is slightly damp right where it touches the Smooth motor controller (very isolated liquid spill by the look of it), and this has resulted in the controller burning out. Everything else on the board is untouched and unblemished, so I have pretty high hopes that internally the drive is fine.
The board does not have a ROM chip on it, so all of the info will be built into the drive itself. The drive when plugged in does not show any signs of activity, but with a dead motor controller that's hardly surprising.
If anyone has a spare PCB lying around, I'd be happy to purchase it and pay for all shipping.

The drive is out of one of the old WD Elements external drives that has the silicon covers on the ends and no rounded corners.
