Hello Im looking for the PCB of said drive to try to revive my recently diseased back-up drive.
model: WD5000AAKS - 75TMA0
DCM: HANCHV2CAB
WWN: 500014EE25591A8A6
S/N: WD - WCAPW1868216
Firmware A0, REV A00

picture I took of the drive in case I missed something
Story: my hard drive was working fine till one day it suddenly vanished(no longer seen in windows). I thought it might be a windows thing but the BIOS does not recognize it either. Never made any clicking sound or had any performance issues with it. I unplugged the drive for several days and when I connected it again and booted up Windows it was visible again and I could access all the data in it. Sadly I thought the problem had been fixed and did not bother to copy all the data (only essential stuff I needed for work). The next time I turned on the PC the HD went back to not being recognized by BIOS or Windows. I tried changing the cables, connecting it into a different SATA port in the mobo but it remains unrecognized so I thought it might be a logic board problem.
any ideas or anyone willing to sell me a replacement PCB to see if that fixes the problem? |

Each PCB stores unique, drive specific "adaptive" information within the Marvell MCU (big "M"). If you wish to try a replacement board, then you will need to find someone who will perform a firmware transfer from patient to donor. Some board suppliers will transfer the firmware for free, while others will charge US$10 - $20. |

Could you recommend me any particular supplier?
Is it worth it to send the HD to a specialist to verify the cause and have him transfer the data to a new HD? Don't have any idea what a ballpark cost would be. |

I doubt that you have a PCB problem, based on your description of failure.
Your drive most likely developed many bad sectors which can not be read by read/write head/s, therefore give you no access to your data.
Let us know where you live, so we can refer you to nearest place that can help you. _________________ www.datarecoveryne.com |

I'm in Puerto Rico... guessing the nearest place I'll have to send the HD would be Florida. |
